I’m already hungry for tomorrow! Saturday at the Saratoga Farmers’ Market from 9-1pm will be the first round of bracketed competition for the Adirondack Appliance Cast Iron Chef Invitational. Each Team of two Chefs will be given an EVO Grill, a Big Green Egg and a 36” BlueStar Professional Range to cook on. We will run two 90 minute rounds back to back beginning at 9am. Each team will be given a mystery basket of farmers’ market ingredients to utilize in their entry. I will be lucky enough to be a judge in this leg too alongside Tom Thibeault from Adirondack Appliance, Steve Barnes from Table Hopping and John Sconzo from Docsconz-Musings on Food & Life. We will be judging this event based on overall taste, creativity, use of basket ingredients and presentation. Each category will be scored on a scale of 10 points per judge. The two winners of this event will move on to face the top two restaurants from the qualifier.
Competing in this round will be Max London’s vs The Local followed by Yono’s vs Mouzon House! Plus Walt Adams from Star 101.3 will be there to cover everything live! So come down to the market to catch all of the action!
Also tomorrow from 2-5pm, come check out the opening of two new shows at Spring Street Gallery: “Unobtrusive Observation” the first solo show by photographer Christopher Butler, and “20 TAKE 30″, a 30-day group photography project by 20 Saratogians of varied perspectives and backgrounds – a hairdresser, a chef, a gardener, City Finance Commissioner Michele Madigan, a teenager, a resident of Wesley Health Center, and many more (including yours truly!). Every day for 30 days they will hang ALL new photographs!
Saturday I’m also going to help celebrate the birthdays of the sweet and adorable Dalton boys, I can’t wait! Also, a little birdie (Robin) told me that they are having the party catered by Hattie’s. Perfection! By the way, go vote for Hattie’s for the Best Fried Chicken in America in Esquire Magazine right here!
