I just wanted to say a simple thank you, to everyone who reads and supports and is a part of Mamatoga. When I first moved to Saratoga it wasn’t the easiest time for me as a mom. I was struggling with postpartum depression, my family lived out of state, my friends were all hours away and I didn’t know one single person living here. But I loved it here, there was so much to do with the kids, so many schools and activities and places to go. We found the Children’s Museum and the programs at the Saratoga Springs Public Library and favorite restaurants and shops. I started meeting people at yoga and Congress Park and Peerless Pool. The feeling of community in our town really meant something to me, and continues to mean a lot to me. The first time I went to the Cantina Fun Run I thought it was so amazing to see so many families come out to support the cause. When we walked down Broadway for the Victorian Streetwalk the first time I just felt so in love with this city and the people and families that live here. I felt like being part of this community and meeting the people living here made me a better parent, it helped to pull me through.
Part of wanting to start Mamatoga was to be able to reach out and form little connections with fellow moms. I can still clearly remember what it felt like to be a new mom, to not know anyone, to not know which preschool to choose, to feel like I was the only one that felt overwhelmed. I searched online for a family website here in Saratoga and when I came up with nothing I knew I had to start one of my own. It is so special to me that I have made connections with people through this little website. When I meet readers who tell me they love Mamatoga I want to tell them that I love them right back. People read this stuff that I put out, and it means more to me than I can express. I love this little community here and I can’t wait to continue to build it with you guys. Thanks so much from the bottom of my heart, I truly appreciate all of the love and support.
