One of my favorite family events is happening this weekend, it’s the Children’s Museum at Saratoga’s Big Truck Day! This year, the Children’s Museum Big Truck Day will be held on Saturday, August 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain date August 11). The Children’s Museum Big Truck Day promises to provide families a chance to enjoy an entirely different kind of horsepower. In its sixth year, the Big Truck Day continues to grow as one of the area’s premier family-friendly events for truck enthusiasts. Last year, more than 1,700 people attended the event.
Located in the parking lot of Maple Avenue School in Saratoga, this year’s Big Truck Day is sure to provide a broad assortment of vehicles as in previous years, including a hook and ladder fire truck; a CDTA hybrid bus; a yellow school bus; an 18-wheeler with a sleeper cab; a recycling truck; a heavy-duty wrecker; a crane with a 100-foot boom and much, much more. Last year, public safety and public works vehicles were also represented, including Saratoga Sheriff’s department officer and K-9 unit vehicles and a New York State Trooper rollover vehicle demonstration. Throughout the event, drivers will be available to answer questions about the vehicles.
As always, all proceeds from Big Truck Day will benefit the Children’s Museum at Saratoga. Admission is $5 per child, $1 per accompanying adult. Children under the age of one are free. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Truck-themed activities for children include face painting, balloon animals and a bouncy-bounce.

We have ever been to this event, sadly, but now that my 2 year old is old enough AND into trucks we are planning to attend. Winning tickets would be great as we are on a tit income. Hubby lives and works out of state and we see him for only 1.5 days/week so it would be a great way to spend rare quality time together with all 5 of us!

I I I have not been able to bring my son’s to this event, due to them being to small, this year though will be different, I hope. William is 2 now and loves BIG TRUCKS – so what a wonderful event to bring him too – Ryan is 1 and is just starting to explore the things that big brother woo’s about.

This is the first year we are not working on this day. We’d love to head up and finally get in on the fun. Our twins love trucks, especially buses so this would totally make their day. Of course the cotton candy afterwards is the cherry on top.

We are very careful not to say the words “Big Truck Day” out loud in our house more than one day in advance. Otherwise My 4 year old questions “Is it time to go yet?” approximately every 10 minutes or so!!
