A trio of string musicians from The Philadelphia Orchestra, one of the world’s preeminent orchestras, will perform a FREE mini-concert for visitors to The Children’s Museum at Saratoga on Thursday, August 2 at 1:30 p.m. Children and museum patrons are welcome to enjoy the 40-minute performance which will be at the bandstand on the museum’s first floor. The Children’s Museum is located at 69 Caroline Street in downtown Saratoga Springs. The Orchestra musicians performing are Daniel Han, violin; Yayoi Numazawa, violin; and David Nicastro, viola.
The Orchestra, which kicks off its SPAC Season tonight, debuted the pop-up concerts in Saratoga last season to large and enthusiastic crowds in downtown locations. Aimed at fostering greater awareness and appreciation of The Orchestra and classical music, the free concerts allow for interaction between the musicians and spectators.
SPAC’s President Marcia White commented that the concerts offer “unique opportunities to connect with some of the world’s most accomplished musicians and their music, in a relaxed, neighborhood setting. We view them as a way for us to increase classical music’s reach, which is the first step towards building new audiences.”
This is the first “pop-up” concert the Orchestra will present during its Saratoga residency. There will also be a pop-up concert on Thursday, August 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the Saratoga Springs Library. So make sure not to miss this amazing opportunity to have your little ones enjoy this world famous orchestra for free!
