MLK Jr. Day of Service in Saratoga Springs

mlkPQ295_cThis Monday, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, our local Martin Luther King Committee will welcome the community to participate in this year’s Day of Service. They are asking community members to come volunteer, and the event “Empowering Our Spirits to Build Community” will start at the Presbyterian-New England Congregational Church at 24 Circular St. in Saratoga Springs with a volunteer sign-up at 9:30am.

Local agencies will give volunteers the opportunity to spend a few hours pitching in by painting, repairing, cleaning and other tasks in the community. All volunteers will be given a complimentary lunch at 1pm and a formal program will start at 2 pm at the church, featuring music, readings from Dr. King’s speeches and writings,  poetry, film and youth performers.

This is such a great way to come out and celebrate the incredible legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. right here in our own community. Email templesinai@nycap.rr.com or call 584-8730 for more info.
