Micro-Soccer (3-6 years)
Co-ed program for youth ages 3 to 6. There are no try-outs, emphasis is on participation NOT winning, and fundamentals are stressed. They will be divided into four teams and the first half hour will be “practice”. Teams will have drills, team cooperation plays, and learn basic skills of the game. The remaining fifteen minutes will be “game” time. Space is limited with 48 children maximum. Advanced Micro-Soccer (7-9 years)
This is a co-ed program for youth ages 7-9 who want to continue on in soccer. This program will run much like micro-soccer but practice will be 20 minutes and the “game” will be played in the remaining 40 minutes with more structure in positioning players. Co-ed Soccer (10-12 years)
This program is for soccer players who are not on competitive sport teams and just want to play. Skills assessment will be used for grouping with the Games Approach. Fall 2011 SWSC Rec Soccer Program At Gavin Park – Outdoor
Key features of this New Program:
- Participants: Pre-K to 6th Grade
- Session: - 7-weeks Saturday September 10th to Saturday October 29th
- Days & Times:
- Saturdays 9:00-10:00 AM
- Wednesdays 5:30-6:30 PM
- Location: Gavin Park
- Format:Skills Training 25% and Game Play 75% – small sided for a lot of touches & goals
- Wednesdays: 30 minute skill training & 30 minutes for game play
- Saturday: 60 minutes for game play
- Pre-K, K & 1st Grade play 3v3, small fields, small goals, no keepers
- 2nd & 3rd Grade play 4v4, small fields, small goals, no keepers
- 4th, 5th & 6th Grade
- Wednesdays: 5v5, small fields, small goals, no keepers
- Saturdays: 8v8, normal U12 field and goals, with keepers
- Small fields get progressive larger for each Division (Pre-K, to 4th, 5th & 6th Grade)
