Readers, in just two weeks from today Katrina Trask Cooperative Nursery School will be holding their Children's Fall Consignment Sale, which will be their 11th sale of children's clothing, toys, and gear that draws over 500 shoppers! The first year I moved here I was lucky enough to move next door to a Katrina Trask mom who tipped me off to this amazing sale, and when I got there I literally loaded myself up with piles and piles of stuff! The first time I went to the sale I was pregnant with my daughter, and to this day, three years later, she STILL wears stuff I bought at that first sale. At least once a week I look at both of the kids and realize they're wearing at least one item I've bought at the sale. Everything they have at the sale is in fantastic condition and the prices cannot be beat, I've gotten nearly new items for as little as $2, and at the first sale I spent less than $100 and walked out with about six bags of stuff. Over the years at the sale I've bought winter coats, shoes, dresses, Halloween costumes, games, toys, winter gear, summer gear, some adorable decorative stuff for their rooms, baby items and even maternity wear. I've gotten everything from Hanna Andersson dresses to Dwell baby pillows, Ralph Lauren dresses, car seats, and one year I even got an adorable Burberry baby dress! They have complete outfits, baby onesies, socks, mittens and hats and winter boots, basically everything and anything you need to clothe and entertain your little one, all for incredibly low prices, and they have TONS of stuff in all different sizes so there is really something for everyone and it has been truly indispensable for me. I've postponed vacations in order to not miss this sale readers, it's that good. The proceeds go to benefit the Katrina Trask Cooperative Nursery School which is one of the best local preschools our city has to offer. Here is a little more about the school and their philosophy from their website:
Katrina Trask (KT) offers a uniquely positive preschool experience for three and four-year-olds. At KT, we provide an opportunity for your child's social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth. We believe that children learn through play. Following that philosophy, KT provides activities which promote growth in all areas of development, providing opportunities for learning through a variety of play experiences. Although the children at KT are not formally "taught" subjects such as science and social studies, they learn about these topics through learning activities, materials and programs brought into the classroom. The children gather and use a great deal of subject matter about the natural, physical and social world of home, school and neighborhood.
Katrina Trask is the only parent cooperative nursery school in Saratoga, where parents and teachers work together for the growth and development of our children. A cooperative preschool offers parents the uniquely rewarding opportunity to actively participate in their child's school day on a regular basis. Enthusiastic parental support is one of our school's greatest resources. Parents can expect to be helpers in the classroom approximately 4 - 5 class days per year where they are expected to bring the snack and assist teachers with the day's activities. In addition to parent helper days, other parent responsibilities include serving on committees, fundraising, school clean ups, and possibly serving on the school's executive committee which oversees the daily operation of the school. Teachers and parents work together, pooling ideas, abilities and resources to create an appealing learning environment for the children. Camaraderie amongst parents is fostered in many ways, whether it be active participation in various committees, or involvement in planning and assisting with school activities. The cooperative nature of the school make KT a wonderful place to get to know other families through events such as parent coffees, pizza night, Family Pumpkin Carving, Pajama Night, and other events. The KT "family" is a warm and friendly extended community for the children to grow and learn within.
