What a beautiful weekend it was here in Saratoga, a fantastic way to wrap up the long Thanksgiving weekend! We had a great time ourselves, we took a ride on the Polar Express (our review coming tomorrow), saw a couple movies and spent a lot of time outdoors enjoying this beautiful weather (some of it spent shopping for Small Business Saturday!). We hope you had a great weekend as well, and keep in mind that there are some fantastic holiday events going on this week, the Saratoga Tree Lighting Ceremony is happening on Wednesday, November 30th at 7:00pm in front of Putnam Wine, 435 Broadway in Saratoga. Admission is free and your little ones can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus who will be arriving by horse drawn carriage. There will be free hot chocolate and cookies as well! Also starting on Wednesday is the Saratoga Festival of Trees, and you can find out more about that here.
On Thursday, December 1st, from 6-10pm is the 2011 Saratoga Springs Victorian Streetwalk. This is one of my favorite local activities, when downtown Saratoga closes to traffic and is transformed into a Victorian winter wonderland. Musicians, singers, magicians, and other performances walk through the crowds entertaining the whole family and Santa welcomes visits from children at his very special cottage. Kids can get up close and personal with his real-life team of reindeer right down the street! Free hot beverages and treats will be served at numerous locations around downtown. Carolers stroll the sidewalks dressed in elegant period costumes and over 50 venues will have entertainment and everything is free and open to the public!
Then, on Friday, there is Wilton’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at Gavin Park on Friday, December 2nd from 6:15 to 8:45pm. Bring the family and come start the holiday season off right with Frosty, Rudolph, and of course Santa himself! The Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus will warm us up with sounds of the season at 6:15 p.m. There will be gifts from Santa as well as refreshments and holiday movies for all to enjoy. You can get more info on these and ALL of the local Holiday Events right here, and we'll be updating it all the time to bring you the latest info on how to enjoy all the holiday fun Saratoga has to offer!
Also, there is a great event running this Saturday at Experience Event Design at The Studio at 526 Maple Ave in Saratoga, Crafternoons! For $30 your child can create two age appropriate crafts, one to give as a gift this holiday season and one to show off right away! This weekend the slots available are from 12-2pm or 2-4pm, and what's great is that you can drop the kids off and have a couple child free hours to do some Christmas shopping or whatever you like! 8 kids are needed for the block, so let them know ASAP if you're interested because I'd LOVE Finn and Lev to do one this Saturday. I love having them give relatives handmade gifts and this sounds like the perfect way to do that! PLUS, they are having a Cyber Monday Sale! Contact them by Monday end of day to receive 20% off! Offer is good for both Crafternoons reservations and their Holiday Event Services. Check them out here for more info and contact information!
Finally, if you have started Elf on the Shelf at your house, check out our photo contest and send us your funny and/or creative spots that your Elf winds up in! We also wanted to say thanks to all of you for your super kind words about our Spirit of Saratoga magazine cover, it really put smiles on our faces to read everything, and we can't wait to share the rest of our big news, coming SOON!
