Mamatoga Daily: Friday, Dec. 16th, Plus the Weekend!

There are a lot of great events going on around town this weekend, and if you're like me you're going to try to squeeze a few of them in while also finishing up some holiday shopping!   • Check out Wiggle and Giggle at the Children’s Museum from 10-11:30am and 2:30-4pm.  Scavenger Hunt Friday.
  • The Spa Little Theater has The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.  7:30pm. This magical and mysterious tale follows the adventures of four children who emerge out of a magical wardrobe into the exciting, never-to-be-forgotten land of Narnia, a world of mythical creatures. On their journey the children meet Tumnus, a friendly faun, Aslan, the great and powerful lion, and the evil White Witch. This story of love, faith, courage and generosity, with its triumph of good over evil, is a true celebration of life.  Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for children.
  • Go! World Awareness Museum in Glens Falls is offering Homeschool Fridays: Art of the Samurai from 10-11:30 am.  Join artist Kimberly Leahey to learn about Bushido, the way of life of the Japanese Samurai. Using watercolors, participants will paint in the style of the Samurai

Saturday, December 17th

  • Moreau State Park is having a Holiday & Winter Craft from 10-12pm.  The Friends of Moreau Lake State Park are hosting a holiday and winter craft for kids. There will be people to help your child with crafts as well as serving refreshments. $5 per child.
  • Children’s MuseumStory Art from 10:30-11am.
  • The Saratoga Winery and Tasting Room is having Christmas Cookies and Hot Cocoa with the Saratoga Santa from 11-4pm.  Christmas cookies & hot cocoa with Santa 11am-1pm, live holiday music from Pat Decker by the tree from 1pm-4pm, great discounts and more! Free event.   • As is Wilton’s Wacky Holiday Bash from 1-3pm.  Join Radio Disney and Wilton Mall for Wilton’s Wacky Holiday Bash! Wear your favorite holiday pajama outfit to receive a special Radio Disney prize! Free admission.

  • The Tang Museum at Skidmore College has Family Saturdays from 2-3:30pm.  The programs include a brief tour followed by a hands-on art activity, with all materials provided.  Free and open to the public.

Sunday, December 18th

  • Children’s MuseumArtrageous! from 2-3pm.

  • National Museum of Dance - Figures in Flight Performance from 1-3pm.  This event will be a performance by students of Geyser Road Elementary School and Lake Avenue Elementary School in Saratoga Springs after Figures in Flight completes residencies with both schools. The “Attention on Attention” program taught by Susan Slotnik is aimed at helping children learn to focus, to understand themselves and the world around them.
  • The First Annual Latke Fest is taking place at Temple Beth El, 3 Marion Ave in Glens Falls from 3 to 5:30pm. This is a community wide celebration complete with games, contests and of course loads of crispy, tasty latkes! The event will feature the Latke Cook Off in which cooks may compete in one of two categories: traditional or twisted. Traditional latkes of potato, onion, egg and flour are served with either apple sauce and/or sour cream. In the twisted category cooks are encouraged to let their creativity soar using different cultural influences, ingredients and condiments to create their original take on the latke.
