Just Two More Bites: Papatogian Tom on Local Farm Fresh Produce in February!

As a foodie I am often scouring the area for the freshest produce and locally made foods available. Oftentimes that quest brings me to the Saratoga Farmers Market. I am sure everyone knows where to find the market when its outside from May – October on High Rock avenue. But did you know that November through April they are still open in the Division Street School? I am thrilled we still have access to the many outstanding vendors that serve us in the summer year round! Saturdays from 9 until 1 you can stop by the Division Street School and get some of the best produce in the country! The market is for local producers only so everything must be produced locally in Saratoga, Schenectady, Reneselaer, or Washington counties. There is only one exception to this rule with fresh Long Island Fish. The vendors are cash only, but that’s okay because the market is not! Just stop by the Farmers Market booth when you arrive and buy some tokens with your credit card and shop away!

You will find vendors like Sheldon Farms, Argyle Cheese Factory, Puckers Pickles, Battenkill Valley Creamery, Dancing Ewe Farm, and Mrs. London’s just to name a few. I would challenge you to find fresher products anywhere else! Plus you are supporting farmers right here in our community. The year round products you will find there include vegetables, fruits, spreads, marinades, honey, baked goods, meat, cheese, fish, jams, yogurt, and milk as well as crafters and on site prepared food. Most all of the products are certified to be organically grown as well! The Market is also a great family activity to bring the kids to! With live entertainment, snacks, and extremely friendly and helpful vendors there is something for everyone! So pack up the kids Saturday morning and head over, you won’t regret it! Maybe we will see you there!
