Old Friends, New Babies

This snowy Saturday morning I got to meet up with a very old friend of mine and to meet her beyond adorable new baby Eleanor. Diane and I have known each other since we were 1, way back in 1979 when my mom decided to babysit a few other little ones while she was staying at home with my brother Ted and I. She told me how she would lay us all down in a little group, me, Ted, Diane, Trevor, and Trent and change all of our diapers at once in a little diaper assembly line.

Diane and her husband are in Saratoga from the city for the NOFA Conference and she brought her 3 month old daughter along to Uncommon Grounds to meet us. Finn and Levy fell in love immediately, as did most of the Uncommon Grounds staff, myself and my mom, and pretty much everyone in our immediate area. Eleanor is one of those dangerous babies that makes people want to have babies of their own, even if the thought hadn't crossed their minds yet, or convinces people that they should have another one. Beautiful, chubby cheeked and so happy she brightened up the snowy day and entertained us while we caught up over bagels and tea. Finn and Levy delighted in doing a puppet show for her, my mom turned into a huge baby hog (as usual) and we all took turns holding her and pinching her little legs. A perfect start to the weekend...
