FishStock at Saratoga Spa State Park

UPDATE for 2015: See the photo below for the info on this year's event and read the rest of the post for some helpful info from a past event! 11071422_10153140950898088_8909775918151275318_nToday was the annual fish stocking event at the Saratoga Spa State Park, this free event happens every year where the Van Hornesville Fish Hatchery stock the area streams each year with the help of volunteers. You bring a bucket and help introduce the trout to their new home in Saratoga! There is a strict "one fish per family" limit and for future reference I would get there EARLY. The event started at 11am but when we got there at 10:45 there already was a HUGE line. This is a super popular event, technically it ran till 2pm but the fish go quickly so if you don't get there early they are likely to run out of fish well before then. It's a fun time for everyone though, they have live music and little art and information tables plus they sold hot dogs and drinks too. The kids had a great time, even though the line was long once they started handing out the fish it went pretty quickly, and afterward we got to paint a fish and have a hot dog before the hail and rain came. Finn and Lev can't wait to go back to the stream to visit their fish "Dottie", who came pretty close to leaping out our bucket, but he made it to the stream safe and sound. p.s. I absolutely adored the special stickers they had made up for the event, they were beyond cute...
