It is FINALLY the Friday of this nice long weekend! It has been an extraordinarily busy week here at Mamatoga HQ, there are lots of fun things in the works for you guys. BUT, I am glad it is the weekend. We are starting it off with some t-ball tonight, you can read more about my conflicted feelings about kids in sports here. We are toying with the idea of taking all three kids to the Malta Drive-In but I can't decide if that is a) Genius or b) Completely insane. I'll let you know what we decide...
First off, let's look at the weather for this weekend from my go to weather authority. Saturday is looking like the best bet with some sun, Sunday looks a little rainy and Monday is supposed to have some "isolated" thunderstorms but according to my research (googling weather.com) there is only a 30% chance of rain. So not too bad!
Saturday we are going to check out the Farm Stand opening at King Brothers Dairy in Schuylerville. From 11-3 that day you can stop by for samples of their amazing products, free pony rides and more. I also hear there will be giveaways for free riding lessons as well.
Saturday is also the Dressage at Saratoga Horse Show. Held at the backstretch of the Saratoga Race Course, the annual Dressage at Saratoga horse show is a FREE community event featuring top-level horses, local and international riders, food and fun horsey shopping! Don't have a clue what dressage is? Check out the video below from the friendly boys at Modern Mix Marketing for all the info:
If the weather holds out on Saturday Sean is going to take Finn for his first round of golf at McGregor, where they apparently have specially placed tees for junior golfers so it doesn't take forever to get a younger golfer around the course. Finn has been talking about riding in the golf cart all week so I'm keeping my fingers crossed the weather holds out. I also can't wait for the pool to open June 1st...
Sunday we are heading north to Lake George to visit some friends, and any stop up there for me must always include breakfast at the adorable Bolton Beans in Bolton Landing and lunch at Mister Brown's Pub at the Sagamore for one of those yummy Chambord frozen drinks they make there, mmm...
Monday the absolute BEST event around is the Saratoga Springs Memorial Day Parade! The annual parade had been held on the Wednesday before Memorial Day for more than 25 years. But last week, organizers said they had to cancel the event because of funding and participation concerns. Organizers say the parade costs around $1,500. Local man Paul Brisson heard this news and said it just wasn't right to cancel the parade to honor those who have died in military service and created a Facebook group asking for donations and volunteers to help with logistics. This week they received the required insurance coverage and permit from the city and the parade WILL be held Monday morning! AMAZING! I've got to say I'm really, REALLY impressed with Paul and all the people who worked to make this happen, it's really incredible and you should all be very proud of yourselves. I will be there to watch the parade and it will be just that much more meaningful because of this extraordinary effort. Add this to the list of reasons why I LOVE Saratoga Springs!
Post parade you can find me at Hattie's Crawfish Festival! Going from 11am-4pm they'll have music from The Garland Nelson Ensemble, crawfish by the pound, their famous fried chicken, gumbo and peel and eat shrimp! I can't wait to try their Hattie's Summer Brew, it'll be the perfect way to kick off the summer in Saratoga. Want more info? Call them at 584-4790.
