In our neighborhood we usually form a big group with other families and walk around with the kids, usually passing other big groups from around the neighborhood. The parents chat, sometimes there is wine involved, and the kids all go up to each door in a big, giggly mob. All the moms bring glow sticks or make glow necklaces for the kids, and it feels safer to me to have a big group together. There is very little parental involvement other than yelling out "CAR!!!" here and there, so the kids feel like they are on their own. There are also a bunch of local mall Halloween trick or treating events and other more organized type trick or treating activities, sometimes indoors, that are easier for little ones and usually at an earlier hour. What's your family's trick or treat style?
