Being a wife, mom (two under 4, and a teenager), and an artist with a full-time job it is hard to find that precious “me-time”. Over the last few years, I’ve learned to be very creative with finding time. I am an artist, so any time away from my family is spent in my studio painting. Many nights, you can find me up until the wee hours working, or blogging about life as an artist.
What advice would you give to other moms about how to balance work and life?
Don’t be too hard on yourself. We are all trying to be super-women when it comes to work/life balance. Do you the best with what you have, and make the time you share with your family quality time.
Do you ever wonder how other women manage the juggle? Do you think people are open about it?
I definitely do! I find that many of my friends are open about how they manage the juggle of daily life. It’s not easy all the time, and it requires flexibility.
What is your typical schedule like during the week?
My typical schedule consists of 3 days working out of the home, and two telecommuting. Most nights I try to spend at least an hour in my studio to recharge. It’s very therapeutic. Weekends are usually spent with my family either bumming around the house, or going on an adventure!
What do you like best about your current set-up/schedule?
I appreciate that my full-time job has a flex schedule. This allows me to be present for important appointments, school functions, etc. for my kids.
Wine! I kid, I kid! Top must haves are my double stroller for walks with the wee ones, my Mom Hook, my camera, a peaceful place to take a Mommy timeout.
What is one thing you’ve realized/learned about motherhood that no one ever told you before you had kids?
The one thing I’ve learned about being a mother that no one ever told me is the magnitude of the love a mother has for her children. It’s a “knock you off your feet” and a “fly me to the moon” kind of love.
If you had an extra hour in the day you would spend it…?
An extra hour in the day would be wonderful. I would have to split it into 30 minute intervals. 30 minutes to do something active other than chasing the 2 and 3 yr olds. Dancing, perhaps! The other 30 minutes would be spent cleaning my paint brushes!

This will be the second solo show Mimosa has held for Ms. Walter. Mimosa owner, Michelle LaLonde states that, "Takeyce is one of our customers' favorite artists. She has participated in all of our group shows and fundraisers and keeps her fans updated via her blog and website. It is an honor to once again feature her work."
Takeyce shares that "the beauty found in nature often overwhelms me. I am driven by an ever present and irresistible urge to capture the beauty to share with others." Takeyce's recent work reflects the beauty she sees in the natural landscape around her. She is most inspired by, and drawn to quiet and peaceful scenes. The paintings are places she has experienced with all her senses, composed with intent to recreate the sense of connectedness she feels with nature.
