Saratoga Must Do: the Fasig Tipton Horse Sales August 5th & 6th

ss13-mi Tonight and tomorrow night the Fasig Tipton Selected Yearlings Sales will take place at the Humphrey S. Phinney Pavilion just steps from the race track on East and Madison Avenues in Saratoga Springs and this is a not to miss Saratoga summer event. The sales are free and open to the public and it is quite the unique experience.

The pavilion is just gorgeous, and outside the building in the back you can get a drink and watch as the horses are led through on their way inside to be bid on. Grab an auction catalogue from the little office and find out all the info on the yearlings up for sale and watch on the big screens for winning bids. It's a great chance to see some incredibly beautiful horses, hang out with friends and have a quintessential Saratoga Springs night out. Head to dinner afterward to make it a perfect date night! This one is always at the top of my summer to do list and to me it is one of the best nights of the summer. There are not too many other free events where you can see these amazing animals up close, enjoy a drink under the stars, and possibly bump into the Sheikh, last year we got to meet Bobby Flay as he was walking around checking out what horses he wanted to bid on!

Mamatoga's Fasig-Tipton Tips:

Where: Humphrey S. Phinney Pavilion, East and Madison Avenues in Saratoga Springs

When: Starts at 7pm

Cost: Free or REALLY expensive, depending if you want to buy a horse or not. But admission is free for spectators.

Attire: Expect men in suits and women in dresses, especially inside. I usually wear a simple summer dress and it is more casual outside, but generally it is similar to clubhouse attire at the track.

Best place for post sales cocktail: Brook Tavern, it's right around the corner on Union Avenue!

Stop by tonight or tomorrow for this fun Saratoga experience, and if you see me be sure to say hi! xoxo
