The Saratoga Wine & Food Festival and Concours D’Elegance is hands down one of my favorite events of the year, and it is coming to SPAC September 6-8th. The perfect way to wrap up the summer, the three-day event draws an audience of close to 6,000 from Montreal to Northern New Jersey. Quickly becoming known as the most original and exciting Wine and Food Festival north of New York City, the Saratoga Wine & Food Festival and Concours d'Elegance provides over 200 premiere wine and food exhibitors, invitation-only, collector Italian luxury vehicles as well as one-of-a kind seminars. One of my favorite parts is the Grand Tasting, happening on Saturday, September 7th. Gates open at noon, and you pick up your Festival Wine Glass at the entrance. Imagine strolling through enormous tents on the SPAC grounds while working your way through a seemingly endless sea of delicious wine and food samples. It's like a little piece of heaven right here in Saratoga. You bump into friends, try something you haven't tried before, find a bunch of delicious new favorites, and just relax and enjoy yourself. I'm telling you, it is THE BEST.
This year, humorist and commentator Mo Rocca will be headlining the festival and participating in events throughout the weekend, including a “Learning to Cook with Mamma Theresa” demonstration, modeled after his popular Cooking Channel show, My Grandmother’s Ravioli.
New York celebrity chef Zak Pelaccio, chef & co-founder of the Hudson Valley’s hottest new dining destination, Fish & Game, brings culinary expertise to the weekend.
Kevin Zraly, famed wine educator and 2011 James Beard Lifetime Achievement Award winner, leads two wine tasting seminars and participates in events throughout the weekend, and The Saratoga Automobile Museum presents a Concours D’Elegance of luxury collector cars including invited classes of Shelby Cobra, Alfa Romeo, Porsche, Maserati, Ferrari and more. Among the featured cars will be a 2003 Aston Martin DB7 Zagato whose original owner was Eric Clapton.
This year the new Grand Tasting attractions include a Connoissuer’s Tent presented by Healthy Living Market and Café featuring locally and regionally sourced artisan cheeses and charcuterie and exclusive wine and spirits from Kevin Zraly’s private wine cellar. Tickets for the Connoissuer’s Tent can be purchased for an extra fee, click here for more info.
Stick around afterward for The Certified Angus Beef Burger Bash presented by Stella Artois, a competition-style burger bash featuring chefs from regional hot-spots like The Brook Tavern, The Local Pub and Teahouse, Druthers, Henry Street Taproom, Angelo's Prime Bar & Grill, and more. All sliders are featured on the festival's luxury Big Green Egg grills paired with wine and Stella Artois, all presented by Certified Angus Beef. The Evening includes Special Whiskey Bar courtesy of Heaven Hill Distilleries, a milk shake bar, a French Fries bar, Open Bar Beer & Wine (and whiskey snow cones!) live music by “Power House Funk” and dancing, outdoor fire pits and lounge environments. Click here for Burger Bash tickets.
