Breakfast Lemon Smoothie

This lemon smoothie is so easy to make, and is great for breakfast because the citrus really wakes you up but is a refreshing change from the usual OJ in the morning. Add in a pinch of ground turmeric, which has powerful anti-inflammatory and strong antioxidant effects (try a sample packet from Healthy Living Market and Cafe in Saratoga).

WAKE uplemon smoothie(1)Take the lemon and zest it into your blender, then squeeze in the juice. Add in the other ingredients, blend it up and enjoy! If you want to balance out some of the tartness of the lemon just a touch, add in a handful of strawberries or raspberries.
