Strawberry picking season starts in June with some local spots opening up this weekend! There are a bunch of local places perfect for picking, here is a listing of some of the close by places for pick your own. Be sure to call ahead to make sure they are still picking that day as sometimes they run out of crops. We visited Hand Melon Farm for strawberry picking a few years ago (see the photos below) and had such a great time, with a very kid and family friendly environment.

Whatever recipe you decide to make with all of your freshly picked strawberries, I urge you to make at least one with some homemade whipped cream. There are few summer desserts better than a slice of angel food or pound cake, a dollop of homemade whipped cream and some fresh strawberries…xoxo
