I'll admit it, I am a total newbie when it comes to face "serums" and basically thought most products out there for me were gonna be what I like to call "wrinkle creams", and expensive ones at that. Even though I am quickly approaching the big 4-0, I really have only JUST started to pay attention to my skin and what I can do with it as far as making it look, well...better.
I also hate buying overpriced products that don't really deliver and can easily feel overwhelmed in a Sephora trying to find something that works for my skin, because even though I want to combat wrinkles, I also deal with breaks out still (so fun, right?) and after years of being pregnant my skin has gone through the wringer as far as hormonal ups and downs and the like. I'm a skeptic, I'll put it that way.
Then I found The Ordinary. Thanks to my best friend Lauren (Lauren I owe you for this one really) who told me via a text message about a "French company that has super cheap products that everyone loves" which had me googling like a mad woman. Turns out it's Canadian, and the company is actually called Deciem, "the abnormal beauty company" and The Ordinary is one of it's lines. What is truly abnormal about this stuff is how CHEAP it is, and how much it delivers for the price.
The first one I tried was The Buffet, which claims to "Restore a youthful, radiant complexion with this powerful anti-aging serum". It has a ton of ingredients, I mean, really, hence the name, and I figured this sort of catchall was the best one to try. for a serum skincare beginner like myself. Literally days, DAYS after starting to use it, I started to see results. My skin was smoother, softer, more hydrated, clearer, and at the sake of sounding like a commercial, yes, it was more "radiant". I was shocked. Why? This stuff costs less than fifteen bucks and you use like two to three drops twice a day.
Pretty much right away I ordered more Ordinary stuff, and I combined the Buffet with the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum for the breakouts (I use a little of both at night before bed) which works WONDERS and guess what? LESS THAN SIX DOLLARS YES REALLY. I am hooked, I AM SO HOOKED.
Of course, everyone's skin is different, but for these prices you have to try one of these, I'm telling you. My biggest regret about buying them is that I didn't get them sooner. I'm on the bandwagon my friends.
